My name is Sandy, and I am a clinical psychologist. I work with clients of all ages to help them with the typical challenges of life and overcome a range of mental health conditions. I have a particular interest in working with people who experience difficulties managing anxiety and emotions, and also supporting people who have a developmental condition, have experienced trauma, and or live with chronic pain.
I joined Reflect Health because the practice offers a range of integrative practices to support your recovery and growth journey. I aim to assist you in your journey by helping you connect with your mind/emotions/behaviour, understand and heal painful and traumatic experiences, and broaden the scope of strategies you might use to attend to your psychological needs. My style is warm and playful, with an emphasis on placing you and your needs at the centre of treatment while delivering evidence-based practice.
I practice several evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Mindfulness-based practices, and Eye Movement Re-processing Desensitisation (EMDR). I am currently undertaking accreditation as an EMDRAA Accredited Practitioner. I have worked in research (Deakin University: treatment-resistant depression (2010-2011); Barwon Infant Study: Cognitive assessments (2012-2015), ADHD research (2014-2015)). Hospital settings (psychiatric and general), in both in-patient and outpatient facilities and also in private practice.
When I am not at work, I am usually found pruning or digging in the garden with my husband, playing with my children or walking along the beach.
