Dr Jossy Antony
My name is Jossy Antony and I am a Consultant Psychiatrist. I started Reflect Health with the vision to provide not just affordable, high quality care incorporating various treatment modalities under one umbrella but also to help you grow through this process. The vision is not to compete with anyone but to be genuine, innovative and true to our values. It’s only then we can truly focus on you.
At present my primary aim is to provide psychiatric assessment and treatment based on a truly holistic an d integrative approach, for a wide range of conditions. This is done through telehealth, face to face and at times home visits. I have a special interest in ADHD and believe I provide quality assessment and treatment.
My favourite quote is, “ I am because we are” Ubuntu.
I believe in human connection through genuine compassionate listening, sharing and healing in a friendly non judgemental approach.
When people ask where I am from, I usually reply with a cheeky smile, that I am a citizen of the world. I am from an Indian background. I was born in Nigeria. I completed my school education in India and basic medical education in Ukraine where I studied in Russian language. I did my membership mental health training as a psychiatrist in the UK before finally settling in Geelong, Australia. I don’t think I have any plans to move from here! I completed my Psychiatric fellowship training at Barwon Health and is focusing solely on this service.
This journey has helped me acknowledge diverse differences and accept people in a non-judgemental way. I have always been interested in more than just categorical definitions within psychiatry. I prefer to involve the whole person through an assessment which includes understanding the core issues that contribute to the presentation. This incorporates a biological, psychological, social, cultural, spiritual, nutritional and environmental approach. In addition to my training as a Psychiatrist, I have undergone extra training and am a Member of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine as well as the Australian ADHD Professionals Association.
When I am not working, I enjoy time for myself through meditation and Yoga, playing tennis and badminton, updating my medical and mental health knowledge through reading and listening to podcasts and spending time with my beautiful family and friends.
