My name is Ahmad Torshizi. I am an Adult psychiatrist and a fellow of the Royal Australian amd New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. My areas of interests are anxiety, depression, bipolar, ADHD and obsessive disorders. Given I am available for Telepsychiatry appointments only (in private) I encourage all prospective patients to involve their families and carers at least for the initial assessment- as much as possible. I work collaboratively with patients, their families or carers and their regular general practitioners that know the patients to arrive at a safe, comprehensive and sustainable treatment plans.
I myself try to look after my own health by jogging, bike riding, listening to music and cooking healthy foods! In my free time I spend some time reviewing new research and journal articles to keep abreast of new developments and understandings of mental illnesses and the evolving treatment strategies. I also enjoy my other responsibilities including with the Adult Faculty Committee of RANZCP as well as my leadership role in my public job. These will give me great rewarding opportunities to advocate for the patients. I also hold a Senior Lecture position in Psychiatry with the UWA Medical school which gives me a lot of job satisfaction through teaching and training of our next generation of doctors.
